Seeing Many Good Days

What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. (Psalm 34:12,13)

Thought: The answer to the question the Psalmist asks in v. 12 is very simple: all of us do. It is not a bad desire to have life and to see many good days; it is a desire God has planted into every one of us and I believe if it is God who has planted this desire, then there should be a way for this desire to be fulfilled. There certainly is and the answer to that is in v. 13: Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. The quality of our life is so closely tied to the words that come out of our mouths. May God always give us the grace to keep our tongues from speaking negatively about anyone and may the words that come out of our mouths ALWAYS be honest and truthful. I am sure the outcome of this lifestyle will be length of days and the grace to see much good.

Prayer: Father, I thank You that You have placed before us life and death and it is always Your desire that we choose life. Father, today I decide to choose life by the words I allow to come out of my mouth. Father, I pray You will give me all the grace and strength I need to rein in my words when I am tempted to speak negatively about someone, especially someone whom I disagree with or someone who has hurt me. Lord, today I choose to bless them, instead. Lord, may the words that come out of my mouth be honest and truthful ALWAYS. I know, Lord, in doing this I will experience every good thing that You have in store for me as I live to fulfill Your purpose for me. In Jesus’ name I pray with thanksgiving, amen.
