That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven… Matthew 5:45
Thought: Through the ages the earth has always had a great need and that was for the presence of the children of God. There is a verse in the Bible that says this: “For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed” (Romans 8:19). How can the children of God be manifested on the earth? There are two ways: when David who was an unknown little boy stepped into the scene and saved Israel from Goliath, the very first question Saul asked David was this: “Whose son are you, young man?” (1 Samuel 17:58). David’s father was known through David’s accomplishment. In Matthew 5:44,45, we see Jesus teaching his disciples to do this: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.” A father can be revealed through the character of his children. This school year, may our children excel in both their accomplishments and their character, thereby being ones who carry the revelation of God their Father in their generation.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I give You thanks that in this school year You will cause my children to excel in both their accomplishments and their character. Father, I thank You that even as You cause them to excel in both these areas, my children will carry the revelation of their Heavenly Father into their generation. I thank You for this great grace. In Jesus’ precious name, amen.
