10x children

And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them 10 times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm Dan. 1:20

Thought: In this verse we see God differentiating Daniel and his friends from the rest of the people in the king’s court in Babylon, and the way God did this was by making them 10 times better. Why does the Bible specifically say they were 10 times better? This is because there is something very specific with regard to the number 10. I believe in the Bible the number 10 expresses the lordship of God; when Pharaoh was resisting Moses, he resisted all the way to the 9th plague but when the 10th plague showed up, he saw God presiding over this whole process and knew it was “game over” for him. Why were there 10 commandments? These 10 commandments expressed God’s lordship over Israel. Why does God say the tithe should be 10 percent? Giving God 10 precent is an expression of the lordship of God over everything we have. Yes, the number 10 is a revelation of God’s lordship. Today as we speak this 10-fold blessing over our children, all we are saying is this: in this school year, as our children stand out and excel in “all matters of wisdom and understanding” in comparison to their peers, it will only be an expression of the lordship of Christ over their lives.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, this morning we thank You that You are not only our God, but Father, You are the Lord over our lives and our homes. Lord, we pray today that, in the lives of our children You will just not be God but you will be LORD. Father, this morning as we bless our children with the 10-fold blessing, we thank You that this blessing will not only cause them to excel in every area of their lives but will be an expression of Your complete lordship over every area of their lives. Yes, Lord, we thank You that this year You will be LORD over the lives of our children and for this grace and blessing we thank You. In Jesus’ precious name, amen.
