Harvest of righteousness

For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind (Hosea 8:7).

In the kingdom of God, sowing and reaping will always remain one of the most potent principles. Sowing and reaping was a principle that was put in place by the Lord and that can never be ignored; “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest…shall never cease” (Genesis 8:22). Sowing and reaping was put in place in such a way that what we harvest will always be multiple times greater than what we sow.

Just as sowing and reaping will always be one of the most potent principles in the kingdom of God, our words will remain as one of the most potent seeds that we can sow. Words have consequences. The characteristic of our harvest will always be determined by the DNA of the seed we sow; “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7). As we go into this new year and this new week, let us choose to sow words of peace in our homes and in our communities because the seed of peace carries with it a great blessing: the harvest of righteousness; “And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness” (James 3:18 NLT). The harvest of righteousness will carry with it a whirlwind of blessings.

Declaration: This year even as I choose to speak words that bring about peace in the situations I am placed in – in my home, in my place of work, and in my community – I declare I will reap a harvest of righteousness and with it every blessing that is a fruit of righteousness.

Scripture: May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer (Psalm 19:14).
