…they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest (Hebrews 8:11)
In the kingdom of God there will always be two kinds of people: those who know God and those who know about God. This is how the Psalmist describes these two groups of people: “He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel” (Psalm 103:7). Here we see two revelations of God given to two groups of people; the revelation of His acts came to His children but the revelation of His ways came to the man Moses. The Bible exhorts us to grow up and be as men: “Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men” (1 Corinthians 14:20).
The acts of God will encourage and motivate us in our walk of faith, but if all we are looking for are the acts of God, our Christian life can become a roller-coaster of emotions. However, those who know His ways will be able to see the Lord in every season of their lives, and that is why the Bible is very clear when it says, “but the people who do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32). In our everyday lives, let us not be content to just experience His acts, but let us press in to know His ways, because in knowing Him is life eternal: “Now this is eternal life, that they may know You…” (John 17:3).
Declaration: I will not remain as one who only experiences and witnesses the acts of God, but I will grow in the Lord to be one who also knows His ways.
Scripture: That I may know him… (Philippians 3:10)
