A Well-Instructed Tongue

The Sovereign LORD has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed. (Isaiah 50:4)

Thought: Our God loves to communicate with us; we were created to be in relationship with Him and an important part of any relationship is communication. To be able to receive what He is telling us, we all need to be good listeners. From the time we wake up in the morning to the time we go to bed at night, we are all bombarded with so many different voices. We will all need to grow in our relationship with the Lord to be able to recognize His loving voice. The key to having a well-instructed tongue is to have a listening ear. The Lord desires to put words in our mouths but before we have His words in our mouths, we all need to have ears open to listen to His voice. Remember what the Bible says: Be swift to hear, slow to speak (James 1:19).

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, You said Your sheep hear Your voice; I thank You that I am Your sheep and I have the ability to hear Your voice. Father, I pray hearing Your voice will never be a struggle for me. I pray that as I grow in my relationship with You, hearing Your voice will be a part of my everyday walk with You. I know as I grow in my ability to hear Your voice, You are going to give me the grace to always carry YOUR WORD in my mouth and this word is going to always express Your mind and Your heart to me and to the world around me. I thank You for hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ name, amen.
