Article: Promise of the Father

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you… (Luke 24:49)
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. (Acts 1:4)
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. (Acts 2:39)

Thought: Today, I would like to remind all of us that we have a Father in heaven who is a good father. The God we serve is a good God; these are the words of Jesus in Mark 10:18: “No one is good, except God alone”. A good father always wants to give his children the best. When God wanted to redeem mankind back to Him, He sent His best: Jesus. Once the work of redemption was complete and we became His children, He never wanted to leave us as orphans (read John 14:18). Who is an orphan? This is the definition of an orphan: “An orphan is someone whose parents have died, are unknown, or have permanently abandoned them”. After the death and resurrection of Jesus, God the Father had another “best” on His mind for us to make sure that we always know that we have a God who is alive and has not abandoned us, and that best was the blessed Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was God’s promise to us to ensure that His presence is always with us and on the day of Pentecost, this precious promise was fulfilled. Today, that very promise of the Holy Spirit is alive over our lives and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is nothing but an expression of God’s great love and goodness toward each one of us. You and I are objects of His great love, affection and goodness; never, ever for a moment doubt that the Holy Spirit is for you. The person of the Holy Spirit is the Lord’s “good and perfect” gift for us today. Just ask and you WILL receive; He is a good Father wanting to give us His best.

Prayer: Father, I thank You with all my heart that You always have the best for me and my children. Father, I thank You for the precious Holy Spirit, who is one of Your bests for me. I and my children are ready today to experience Your best in my life. I love You and I thank You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
