…the just shall live by faith. Galatians 3:11
Faith is and will always be the currency of the kingdom of God, for without faith it is impossible to please the One who called us into a relationship with Him. Faith being the currency of the kingdom of God, the greatest expression of our faith will always be our words. This is how the Bible puts it: “It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak” (2 Corinthians 4:13). For our faith to work, what we believe and what we say need to be in alignment; if not, something is amiss with our faith.
Luke 8:22-25 tells the story about the disciples crossing over to the other side of a lake. As the disciples were crossing over on a boat, they encountered a dangerous storm. In this situation we see the disciples doing two things: one right and the other wrong. In the time of their need, they went to the source of their solution and sought help: “Master, master…” (Luke 8:24). They did the right thing: they ran to Jesus for help. When they came to Jesus the words that came out of their mouths were these: “…we perish”. Jesus calmed the storm but turned around and “…he said unto them, Where is your faith?” The words that came out of the mouths of the disciples – “we perish” – exposed their vulnerability. Whatever our situation, when we come to Jesus we need to expect a miracle. This is what the Bible says: “….anyone who comes to him must believe”. This week nothing that we face will drown us because of two things: (1) Jesus is with us, and (2) our words will be an expression of what we know Jesus is well able to do for us. “This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4).
Declaration: This week what I believe and what I say will be in alignment and even as I live this way I will be an overcomer.
Scripture: who through faith…shut the mouths of lions. (Hebrews 11:33)
