Fruit of Our Lips

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise–the fruit of our lips that openly profess his name(Hebrews 13:15)

Thought: We may have all read this verse many times, but did we notice the word “therefore” in this scripture? The word “therefore” is referring to the previous verse, which says that “we are looking for the city that is to come”. We must not forget that our current situations and circumstances are temporal; what is to come is eternal. Praise, which is the fruit of our lips, not only arms us to face our current situations and circumstances but also prepares us for the blessing that is to come. Let us use our words to give a continual offering of praise to our God.

Prayer: Father, I thank You that You take great pleasure in our praise. We have many things to thank and praise You for, starting with the great love that You showed us through Christ. Lord, today irrespective of what my current situation is, I choose to praise You and offer You the fruit of my lips not only for the things You have done and the things You are doing in my life, but also for all that You have prepared for me in the days to come. This I pray in Jesus’ precious name, amen.
