Growing in revelation

Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 1:12

It is God’s will that we all grow in the knowledge of Him. The Bible makes it very clear that our peace and the grace we need for life are found in the knowledge of God: “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord” (2 Peter 1:2). When the Bible talks about growing in the knowledge of God it is not just talking about an intellectual knowledge of God and of Christ but about revelation knowledge of Him. Our true understanding of Christ is found in revelation knowledge and that is why Paul’s prayer for the church was this: “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him” (Ephesians 1:17).

What is the key to growing in this revelation knowledge of God? I believe the key to growing in the revelation knowledge of Christ is found in Ephesians 1:15: “Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints”. Something about the believers in Ephesus caused Paul to pray that God would give them the “spirit of wisdom and revelation” and that something was that the believers in Ephesus possessed faith in Christ and a love for the people of God. It is only after there is an alignment in our faith in Christ and our love for the people of God that we can move into a place of growing in the revelation of God. This week let us ask the Spirit of God to shed light into any area of our life that is a roadblock to our growing in the revelation of Christ; it is revelation knowledge of God that will grow and operate from a place of grace and peace.

Declaration: This week I will live a life that is in alignment in my relationship with God and my love for the people of God. As I live from this place of alignment of the vertical with the horizontal, I will grow in my revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Scripture: If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates (works against) his [Christian] brother he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen (1 John 4:20 AMP).
