Manifestation of the kingdom of God

Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. (Hebrews 12:28)

The theme of the New Testament is not salvation but the kingdom of God, salvation through our belief in the person of Jesus Christ being the doorway into this marvelous kingdom. When Jesus spoke to Nicodemus, being born again was not the emphasis of His conversation; the emphasis of His conversation was the kingdom of God and being born again was the criteria to experiencing this glorious kingdom. The gospel was and forever will be the good news of the kingdom of God: “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom” (Matthew 4:23).

If our idea of living our Christian life is just limited to being born again and going to heaven, I believe we are very short-sighted; the kingdom of God is about the rule and reign of God in and through our lives. If the kingdom of God is about the rule and reign of Christ in our lives, how does the kingdom of God manifest itself? The answer to this question is found in the words of Christ: “Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits” (Matthew 21:43). The rule and reign of God in our lives is expressed through this one thing: fruit. This week as we yield ourselves to the rule and reign of Christ in our lives, may the kingdom of God be manifested through our words, our actions, our reactions, and all that we do because “The tree is known by his fruit” (Matthew 12:33).

Declaration: This week I live as one whose life is governed and ruled by the kingdom of God and I will bear fruit that will manifest this glorious kingdom.

Scripture: This, then, is how you should pray…your kingdom come (Matthew 6:9-10).
