Position of a believer

Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord…Exodus 14:13

For God to work in and through our lives, He needs us to cooperate with Him. The position of triumph for a child of God is a place of rest. It is from this position of rest that we will be able not only to receive every good thing that is our inheritance in Christ, but also to give God the freedom He needs to work out His plan in our lives. To cooperate with God is to trust in what He has said and to rest in what He has promised.

If resting in God is so crucial for us to inherit every good thing God has promised then it is very important for us to know if we are living from this place of rest. There is one indicator in our lives that reveals our position of rest or restlessness: fear. The absence of fear indicates our position of rest and the presence of fear in any area of our lives indicates a restlessness in that area. When God was getting ready to do something great through Gideon, the first thing He asked Gideon to do was to remove fear from the camp (Judges 7:3). God knew that fear produces restlessness and restlessness restricts God from carrying out His plan. As we go through this week, let us resist the temptation to fear and live from a place of rest. As we rest in Him, we will be positioned to live the full and rich life that Christ died to bring us into.

Declaration: This week I know what I see in the natural has the potential to cause me to fear but as a child of God I declare that I walk by faith and NOT by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). As I live from this position of faith and rest I declare that I will walk in the fullness of the blessing of Christ in every area of my life.

Scripture: You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.” 2 Chronicles 20:17
